Candente is one of Houston’s newest Tex-Mex restaurants and has received well deserved praise by critics. Owned by the same owners as the well-received Pit Room, they certainly have surpassed lofty expectations.

Annie Cafe & Bar is an upscale American restaurant that pays respect to the old Houston favorite Cafe Annie. This newly reincarnated establishment owned by B.B Butchers’ Benjamin Berg provides a lively and fun atmosphere version much like the old Annie.
Eclair Paris Review
If you notice Houston has many great, but expensive French restaurants. However, Eclair happens to be a more affordable option with excellent food. Also, the cafe has an exceptional bakery with amazing apple tarts and other baked French delicacies.
The Original Marini’s Empanada House Review
If you have a great love for empanadas then Marini’s Empanada House is your place with a huge list of interesting versions from barbeque to desert empanadas. The restaurant is an order at the counter type restaurant, but their specialties are top notched.
Local Foods Review
Local foods offer excellent American food with a huge focus on using fresh ingredients and buying from local farmers and suppliers. The food offerings here vary from sandwiches to salads and they offer seasonal specials as well. Worth mentioning their sides particularly their potato salad and pumpkin seeds are incredible options.
Hugo’s Review
Hugo’s is Houston’s premier Mexican restaurant and offers amazing food that cannot be beaten. Every item on the menu is high quality and very authentic.
The Cheese Bar (Closed)
If you love cheese boards and drinking wine then this is your place. The setup is you choose your cheeses or meats based on the season and much of the selections are from local sources.
Red Robin Review (Closed)
Red Robin is a national chain that has remained consistently good over the years and the food is still quite good. The thing they are most famous for is their bottomless fries and delicious burgers. Their menu is quite huge and they have a great drink menu as well.
Hoggs N’ Chicks Review (Closed)
Hoggs N’ Chicks is locally owned and a reasonably priced restaurant providing more than just pork and chicken items. Their menu is quite expansive for an order at the counter type restaurant and they provide excellent customer service. Also, remember to have room for desert, their cobbler is quite excellent.
Jupiter Pizza & Waffle Review
Jupiter Pizza & Waffle is owned by the same owners as Guru Burger and quite a unique fusion of Belgian waffles and pizza. They are known for the Southern Belle, crispy fried chicken served over a Belgian waffle. If pizza or waffles aren’t what you’re into, they also have great salads and skillet meals.
