Enjoy delicious sushi specialties and house specials on their spacious patio.

Takara recently opened in the old spot of Sugar Land’s Japanese restaurant Azuma. Expect decadent sushi and enjoy daily happy hour specials including half off wine on Wednesdays.
Experience
My visit came on a very sparse Christmas Eve afternoon. I went with the outdoor patio since it was nice out and was a great day to enjoy a nice cocktail. Also, I enjoyed having the whole patio to myself. I did notice the tables were fairly spaced apart a nice distance. A nice benefit with regards to wheelchair access. Though on rainy or hot days the patio offers little to no protection for some tables. For an optimal experience, visit on nice weather days or go early to avoid indoor crowds. Lastly, the service was exemplary. My waiter was very attentive to detail and was very courteous. This was by far the most important aspect of the entire dining experience and a big reason why I will be back.
Food
Started my meal service with a refreshing cold Blue Hawaii cocktail. This beautiful drink comes with rum, blue curaçao, and pineapple juice. The drink wasn’t too strong but definitely packed with the best booze. Overall was an excellent drink for a nice afternoon thirst clinching refreshment.
Then I went with the Alaskan roll for a little sushi appetizer. The Alaskan roll comes with a nice addition of snow crab, cucumbers, spicy mayo, and tobiko. These were phenomenal and extremely tasty to the palate. A great option for hardcore seafood lovers.
To cap off my meal, I went with the Mandarin chicken entree. The classic Chinese dish comes with crispy fried chicken sautéed with a delicious sweet and spicy mandarin sauce. It was a tad spicy but not too bad for those that can handle spicy. The dish by far was quite excellent and very filling with white rice factored in. I definitely would get this again.
Accessibility
The overall accessibility at Takara was exceptional with little to no hiccups. Though peak dining hours and rainy weather may impact customer experience. Below is a list of important accessible features.

- Step free paths
- Second floor can be reached by elevator
- Tables can accommodate most wheelchairs inside restaurant and on the outside patio
