Keeper’s is one of Sugar Land’s finer Japanese restaurants.
Enjoy fine Japanese dining along with mouthwatering sushi. They also have a nice covered patio to enjoy their excellent happy hour.
Experience
My visit came on a weekday afternoon and there was nobody outside and the inside wasn’t too busy. I chose to eat on the outdoor patio and had no problem finding a table to accommodate my wheelchair. Also, I was able to enter the patio without entering the building and did not have to go far from my parking spot.
The aesthetics were not as exciting or gaudy as the indoor experience, though the outdoor tables all were covered in white tablecloths. And the patio was much quieter than the noisier inside. Nevertheless, the experience was very much very relaxing and the food was magnificent.
I ordered the Shrimp Tempura, which included 6 lightly battered fried shrimp. This was superb and perfectly crispy with a nice soy-based dipping sauce on the side. It is a great starting dish for those new to Japanese cuisine.
Additionally, the entree comes with a house salad with miso dressing or soup. I went with the house salad since it was hot out and very much enjoyed the miso dressing. The dressing wasn’t that unusual, but perfect for the ordinary green salads.
In addition to my entree, I ordered a few notable favorites sushi rolls. The sushi handrolls were the shaggy dog, Julie crunch, and rock-n-roll.
Shaggy dog includes (black tiger shrimp tempura, kani, masago, and spicy mayo). Julie crunch includes (shrimp tempura, avocado, kani, and sesame & eel sauce). Rock-n-roll includes (shrimp tempura, cucumber, masago, and spicy mayo).
All were incredibly flavorsome and include high-quality shrimp. Luckily all the rolls are fully cooked for those raw averse. They are a little more pricy than other rolls but well worth the splurge. Fortunately, they have a nice happy hour with discounts on the rolls mentioned,
Accessibiity
The accessibility for Keeper’s is fairly exemplary with no major obstacles for the majority of wheelchair users. The bathrooms are the only issue that I noticed during my visit. The bathrooms were standard size and are a little small for bigger wheelchairs or those in need of more room to maneuver. Outside of this issue, it did not impact my overall experience.
- Easy access to patio and inside restaurant
- Access to patio is next to accessible parking
- Covered outdoor patio
- Tables have easy access for wheelchairs
- Step free paths
- Standard bathroom
- Accessible parking near entrance
- Waiter service
Verdict
In sum, Keeper’s offers amazing food and superb accessibility to make this one of Sugar Land’s finer Japanese restaurants.
