State Fare recently opened a new location in Sugar Land’s Town Square. This Houston export is known for great southern comfort food and offers an excellent brunch on the weekends.
Experience
My visit came on a Friday afternoon and there were a few tables outside. There was a small wait due to social distancing protocols with tables at least six feet away. Luckily, it wasn’t too hot for the most part and the tables are covered for the most part.
Food
I started with the jalapeño hushpuppies with crab meat and buttermilk sauce on the side. The hushpuppies were good albeit a little dry like cornbread. Not sure I would get them again with better options such as the popular dill pickle dip. However, this was my first time and I saw hushpuppies, a personal favorite of mine. I was laser-focused on them and ended up overlooking customer favorites. Though I’m certainly happy that I at least tried them.

For the main entree, I went with the H Town Fried Chicken half order portion. This baby comes with chicken breast or dark meat sautéed with a nice fiery sauce. The chicken piece was fairly large even for the half portion. It also comes with hearty cheese potatoes and cauliflower. In my opinion, this was fantastic and downright delicious. Even with the half order, the dish is very filling. I will definitely get this again on my next visit.
Accessibility
Nice outdoor patio. 
The restaurant is fairly accessible with easy access to and from the restaurant. Both inside and outdoor dining areas can accommodate most wheelchairs. The tables were six feet apart as I mentioned earlier and can accommodate most wheelchairs. The bathrooms are regular-sized and are accessible for most manual chairs. Final Verdict
Sugar Land Town Square has added another great restaurant to the likes of Guru Burger and other fine competitors. With a unique blend of comfort food and southern classics, State Fare offers a relaxing outdoor experience for an afternoon or evening meal.
