Austin Series

Red’s is a great place to eat and drink and is walking distance from the Barton Creek Greenbelt. I ended up eating outside, which had plenty of tables and was big enough to handle most chairs, and they have outside heaters if you wish to eat outside in the winter. Also, this is a dog-friendly place and they even have water bowls outside.

The food is quite good and they offer a nice variety of burgers and sandwiches. I ordered a beef brisket sandwich that was pretty good and was designed more in the vein of local Texas bbq sandwiches, Also, I ordered two appetizers the biscuits and the frito pie, both were very excellent choices for my party.  However, the appetizers portions are a little small for a group of  5, so you will most likely need to order more than one appetizer.

The inside of the restaurant was mostly wheelchair accessible, but the bathrooms were, unfortunately, small. Please be aware that you will need to enter the inside of the restaurant to reach the patio area and that inside seating will be problematic during peaks hours.

Overall, Red’s is a great place to eat and is remarkably accessible for most chair users.  This establishment is definitely worth visiting and I  wouldn’t hesitate to return next time I’m in Austin.
