Annie Cafe & Bar is an upscale American restaurant that pays respect to the old Houston favorite Cafe Annie. This newly reincarnated establishment owned by B.B Butchers’ Benjamin Berg provides a lively and fun atmosphere version much like the old Annie.

Experience

My visit came on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and the restaurant wasn’t very crowded since it was the first week of the lunch service. The restaurant is on the second level and there is an elevator next to the entrance that can take you up. Once you’re on the second level, you will see how extravagant the restaurant with exquisite fixtures and a huge grandiose bar. You can tell right away, Annie is going to be fairly expensive. Fortunately, the lunch items are a little more affordable than the dinner options.

To start the meal off, I went with the highly recommended Gulf Crab Tostadas appetizers that can be ordered for lunch or dinner. These were absolutely amazing with high-quality crab meat and a nice mild Fresno Chile sauce to supplement the dish. The dish also comes with avocados, cabbage slaw, and cilantro. Despite the high price, it is well worth the dining splurge.

With regard to my main course, I went with the Triple Decker Chicken Sandwich. This appears to be an ordinary triple-decker sandwich that you can get at most delis. Despite that assumption, this version is top-notched with excellent shaved chicken and Applewood smoked bacon and complemented with an outstanding walnut mayonnaise sauce. Additionally, since my last visit, this item has undergone a slight modification with the sandwich no longer being a triple-decker and wheat bread being replaced with challah bread. The change appears to be well received and still maintains its status as a great sandwich.

Accessibility

The overall accessibility of Annie is highly exceptional with no major flaws that could impact chair users’ dining experience. The only concern appeared to be limited accessible spots. However, the restaurant did provide a cheap valet service that can alleviate any parking issues. The restaurant provides easy access with an elevator near the entrance and accessible bathrooms on the dining level.

  • Easy access to/from the restaurant
  • Elevator near the entrance
  • Step-free paths are available
  • Accessible parking available
  • Cheap valet service is offered
  • Accessible bathrooms available
  • Waiter Service

On the whole, Cafe Annie with extraordinary food and great accessibility provides a spectacular experience for any special occasion or culinary splurge opportunity. No matter your occasion this is a welcoming addition to Houston’s chic restaurant scene.
