BJ’s is known for their pizza and their amazing Pizookie deserts, however in recent years they have expanded their menu to include great sandwiches such as the pulled pork sandwich. They are also a nationwide chain that brews their own beer, quite unique compared to their competitors. Lastly, their custom made root beer is pretty amazing and they even have a nice alcoholic version that is worth trying.
I went on a Wednesday evening around 7:30 and didn’t have much of a problem finding a table. Service was slower than usual and our food took awhile to come out. The waitress wasn’t too bad, but I noticed she had too many tables to deal with. As a result, people in my party had lukewarm food because she was overwhelmed. I would say this location isn’t as good as their other locations, but still pretty decent compared to other chain restaurants in the area.
I ordered the deep dish Mediterranean Pizza, which was basically a Greek salad on a pizza. It was quite good and included grilled chicken, roasted garlic, Kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, basil pesto, feta cheese, and pepperoncinis. I usually hesitate to order specialties like this because sometimes chicken on pizza doesn’t work too well.
For dessert I ordered the chocolate chip Pizookie, this came out hot and was very delicious. This may look like a plain old cookie, but this by far the best cookie pie I have ever tried. They also have other great flavors such as peanut butter and monkey bread that are to-die-for as well. It’s hard to go wrong with a pizookie and they are well worth the calories.
The overall accessibility is adequate and finding a table is quite easy, but to reach the tables you have to travel through the bar and to a ramp. The ramp isn’t a problem but the path through the bar is quite small and you may have to ask people to move, especially during crowded times.
The tables are spaced a decent amount apart when you get into the dining area. Most of their tables can accommodate most wheelchairs.
Bathrooms are a little small, however manual wheelchair should be able to manage the multi-occupancy bathrooms.
Overall, BJ’s isn’t a bad place to have a meal and those in a wheelchair should have no problem visiting this restaurant. The food isn’t earth shattering, but it’s a nice place to socialize and have fun with friends and family.
