  1. Brenham, TX

Brenham is known much more than the iconic Blue Bell Ice Cream and only a 90 minute drive from Houston. In truth, Brenham is known for many fine wineries including the popular Pleasant Hill. For a more relaxing experience have a glass of wine at Saddlehorn Winery on their outdoor patio. See full review here.
  2. Lockhart, TX

Enjoy famous and award winning Texas barbecue with not one but multiple fine establishments in the heart of Lockhart. Make a stop at Kreuz Market or Black’s BBQ for mouth-watering beef brisket and jalapeno cheese sausage. If you can you may want to order ahead to avoid the huge crowds, particuarly on the weekends.
  3. Big Thicket Natural Preserve

Known for a variety of biomes from swampy marshes to beautfiul pine forests. Take a stroll on the accessible Pitcher Plant Trail and Sundew Trail. Both trails are partly paved and consist of wooden boardwalks. The visitor center is wheelchair accessible and has restrooms and water stations.
