In the heart of the old Imperial Sugar mill, the new Sugar Land heritage museum is a great treat for Sugar Land locals and history buffs alike. Despite being a little museum, you will learn a lot about the city’s past and the famous Imperial Sugar company as well.
Experience
The museum was quite empty when I came on a Friday afternoon, a nice change with regards to museums. As mentioned earlier, this museum is relatively new and has a few exhibits at the moment. The exhibits that were shown was a nice city timeline and an interactive screen with information about the community in the 1920s-1960s. Fortunately, there are more exhibits planned for the future. Also, the museum is free and directly on the second floor of the Sugar Mill building, next to the Children’s Museum.

Accessibility
The overall accessibility of the museum is exceptional with no major flaws and was very easy to maneuver in my chair.
- Easy access
- No steps
- Elevator available
- Accessible parking available
Despite being a little short on exhibits, the Sugar Land Heritage Museum with excellent accessibility is truly a nice starting point for appreciating the rich history of Sugar Land proper and its inhabitants over the past two centuries.
